Minimalism at Celine and Stella, YSL channels its inner Flava Flav

I must admit I've been going ga-ga over Celine since Phoebe Philo took over, the Pre-Spring and Spring collections have been amazing. The leather shift dresses, the tight leather tops, and pretty much any leather detailing... Don't forget the tweed jackets, the metal-heel sandals etc. all have a very special place in my heart, but for Fall... I must admit I'm a little disappointed. The leather is still here (thankfully), but the coats are a little boring. I know it's supposed to be minimalistic, but there is a fine line between minimalism and just plain boring. This collection looks to me as if it's crossing over to YAWN. I wasn't as WOW-ed by the collection as I have been in the past... but I guess there were still some pretty solid pieces. I just thought the double breasted coats were a little redundant; there were at least 4, I counted. And turning the same idea into a skirt? Doesn't make it okay just because it's paired with a sheer top.

Maybe Philo's more of a spring kinda gal? Let's hope this isn't a permanent slump...

The beige coat with the black leather lapel (above; center) is by far my favorite piece of the collection. I just remember the fitting and the jackets being a little sharper last Spring; and a whole lot more interesting.

Maybe Celine could turn to Stella for a good example. Stella McCartney took the minimalist route as well, and she definitely ended up at the right spot. Although I may not agree with her vegan ways (I am all about the steak and all about the fur...), she managed to whip out a pretty damn good collection without harming any animals.

The mini embroidered dresses with the sheer overlay are perfect.

Seems like Stefano Pilati is re-visiting the past with some inspiration from Flava Flav. Long gold chained medallions were one of the main accessories this season at Yves Saint Laurent, along with some (equally questionable) mohawk-like pumps.
My favorite look is probably the one with the chain and the nun-headdress (above; far left). I genuinely love it. All the contractions and juxtapositions- the blingin' necklace with the nun-like headdress, the sleek, thin leather portfolio with the wide sleeved blouse, and a classic pair of YSL pumps to top it off (at least I HOPE they're not the mohawk ones).

But the real YSL question pertains to the object below...
Mohawk: Business in the front; party in the back.
What happened to you, Stefano?
